After this first success, I have been employing egg imitations on regular basis and with constant result. One of my astonishing catch was on a day with muddy high water and consequent limited visibility. I could not see the fish, but was able to spot the trails of tiny air bubbles that they release while rummaging in the silt. I mounted a strike indicator and cast the egg three meters in front of the trail, waiting for the egg to sink. The bubble trail moved in direction of the fly and when it reached the spot the strike indicator bobbed and ... strike!! A fat mirror carp was on the hook.
