Perla and Perlodes populate clean, unpolluted and low temperature streams. Not just at low altitudes, some species live in the cold alpine rivers at relevant heights. In the picture: Perla grandis, about 3.5 cm body length, found at 2000 m. ASL. on the Italian Alps in April.
