Moved by the requests that I receive to identify pictures of bugs, I hope to shed some light by clarifying what are the real possibilities and limits of achieving a correct identification through pictures. Some species are recognizable by naked eye, or with the use of a normal lens, but this chance is limited to a number of species. The Green Drake (Ephemera danica, the larva in the picture) is one example, however, mind that there are 7 species of Ephemera known today in Europe and for an unexperienced eye they may all look similar.
