Likely the introduction of large quantities of stocked trout were able to soothe the growing demand for chatching decent sized fish, but it was missing out the long run view of having healthy finned populations in balance with the ecosystem. On the human side, the endorphins released while visiting these artifical paradises were - to the extreme - leading anglers to misconceptions like that sized fish was no longer able to live and grow up in 'free' waters. This fallacy got regularly disproofed each time I had the chance to fish in areas of rivers that had been banned to fishing for several years.
