The mature larvae leave their hideouts among water weeds and swim to the surface. The nymphs drift under the water film with dark coloured wingcases ready to burst open. They wiggle, fighting with the water film tension, waiting for the moment they will be able to wriggle out of the nymphal exuvia end emerge as winged insect.
