For smaller hooks I tye the body with black silk. Left a size 16 and right a size 18. The difference is in the shoulder material: in the larger size on hook 16 the ostrich herl is still used. For the smaller hooks I prefer to employ few turns of black syntethic dubbing. In the book ‘Minor Tactics of the Chalk Stream and Kindred Studies’ published in 1914, G.E.M.
