A.nervosa is a typical autumn sedge that hatches till November. The larva lives in streams or ponds and is a shredder, feeding on terrestrial leaf litter and submerged vegetation.

Like for all the Limnephilidae family members, the 4th apical cell is not present in the wings

The ocelli are well visible between the compound eyes.

It is a mid size sedge and it hatches after the sunset during the first hours of darkness.

Males have 3 segment maxillar palps. The foreleg has 1 spur.

The midlegs and backlegs have respectively 3 spurs and 4 spurs .
