with a wingspan of up to 170 cm, the heron is a fishing 'companion' for those who frequent rivers. Very shy, he tends to fly away at the first sign of approach. He hunts by stationing motionless on the shore or in shallow water to then harpoon the prey with a very fast snap of the beak. The prey is thrown into the air and swallowed from the head, in order to prevent the scales and fins from opening and getting stuck in the throat. Mind that he is not an antagonist, it is we who fish in his territories
