There is a recurrence that mostly passed unnoticed by the vast majority of fishermen. It is not really a hatch, but the amount of this water amphipoda present between April and May seem to exponentially increase in some part of the rivers. From tiny ones to those of greater flow, the gammarus is spawning. Some years I see them in the river close to home in impressive masses in shallow water. The other day there were some under every stone I was turning in a small pristine brook 450 meters high, where I portraied these G.roeseli
